Find out how Anna used Slendertone Abs7, swimming and a vegan diet to reinvigorate her exercise routine and beat the festive season.
- Before Slendertone: 72kg (158.5 pounds) and 29-inch (73.5cm) waistline
- After Slendertone: 67kg (147.5 pounds) and 27-inch (68.5cm) waistline
- Results in 6 weeks: -5kg (11 pounds) and -2 inches (5cm)
Weeks 1-2
I put on a few extra beer-induced pounds while travelling earlier this year and have completely failed to do anything about it since getting back. I also have an upcoming beach holiday in the New Year, so now seems like a good time to get back into shape and get ahead of the game before the start of the festive season.
I would love to work on my tummy, which has never been particularly toned. Not being a huge fan of sit-ups or stomach crunches, Slendertone seems to offer an alternative for tightening those muscles.
I'm not very sporty and swimming is the only exercise I really enjoy, although I've been lazy and have not gone regularly for months. I'm aiming to swim 3 times each week and use my Abs7 belt 6 times a week.
My challenge starts with settling into my vegan diet and sleeping better (which includes cutting back on the caffeine). I’m mostly vegetarian anyway and occasionally do vegan months as a health kick, so going vegan isn't a huge departure. It helps me lose weight by focussing on eating healthily, forward planning and cutting down on snacks.
The sensation of my first 20-minute toning session felt more like someone was snoring on my belly than the electric shock I was expecting. It’s when I increased the intensity to level 60 (out of 150) when things start to feel more impressive.
There was no discomfort during or after the session, so I went for a 1.25km swim.
Weeks 3-4
Both weeks, I completed 6x 30-minute toning sessions, achieving a maximum toning intensity of 100.
I only visited the swimming pool 4 times in total, which adds up to 10km+ in lengths, but even during hectic weeks I can still squeeze in 6 toning sessions including one 30-minute session at intensity level 100 while out walking.
Conveniently, I can even strap the belt on and crack on with cooking when I have my friends over for dinner. I’ve really started to feel the effects of the abdominal training and swimming on my obliques.
Weighed myself today and have lost 3kg. I’m really pleased. My clothes fit better, my stomach looks flatter and my skin is improving.
Weeks 5-6
It was another busy fortnight, but I still swam both Mondays and Sundays and completed 12 toning sessions. I also reached toning intensity level 110, which is a new personal best.
If you’re planning to compliment your toning programme with a vegan diet, this has been my vegan meal plan over the past 6 weeks:
- Breakfast: rye toast with peanut butter and banana or avocado and pepper
- Lunch: bruschetta, bean chilli, sweet potato with refried beans and guacamole, or falafel and couscous
- Dinner: vegetable curry, baked potato and hummus, quinoa and kale stew, whole meal pasta with veg and vegan pesto, or vegan sausages with butterbean mash and sauerkraut
- Snacks: cashews, almonds, dates, mango, dark chocolate and popcorn
After my recent weight loss results, I decided to measure my waist. My waist is now 27.5 inches. This is 1.5 inches less than when I started my toning programme.
The results
After achieving a maximum toning intensity of 130 and dropping 5kg and 2 inches from my waistline, I found that Slendertone was a convenient addition to my diet and exercise regime which helped me get into shape for my beach holiday.
The Abs7 belt has firmed my tummy muscles (which is a problem area for me) and streamlined my waistline, so I’ll definitely continue using it as part of my regular routine.
