Tips for a Healthy Mind and Body

Tips for a Healthy Mind and Body

We have been told time and time again about the benefits of a balanced diet, how we should eat five portions of fruit and vegetables every day and incorporate a variety of the other food groups. So much attention is paid to following a healthy diet and exercise plan, but what about a healthy mind or a healthy body? These are equally as important as a healthy diet, so we decided to give you some top tips to maintain a healthy mind and body!

Find Exercises You Enjoy

Exercising has been proven to release endorphins that trigger a positive feeling throughout your mind body. However, we don’t always like certain exercises, which causes us to skip our workout and therefore miss out on these endorphins. Finding exercises that you enjoy will make your workouts more enjoyable and allow you to look forward to working out, ensuring you release those endorphins as much as possible!

Why Not Try Yoga?

Yoga is a great way to relieve stress and tension, while helping you feel refreshed, focused and ready for the day ahead. Yoga requires great concentration, allowing you to forget about the world around you for a while and focus on your body and spirit. After a morning yoga session, you’ll be better equipped to face the day ahead with a clear mind and fresh outlook!

Limit your screen time

We may not notice it, but working on computers, watching tv, or scrolling through our phones can have a major impact on our mood. We spend much more time exposed to screens than we realise, and this can limit our focus and cause headaches. Aim to spend less time watching your favourite tv series or scrolling through your favourite apps, and fill this time by reading a book or going for a walk. You may be surprised how much of a difference this small chance could make to your mental health and overall wellbeing!

Small Changes for Big Results

Think about your health as a lifelong commitment. It’s not something that we do for a week and give up on - your personal goals have to be realistic. Start by aiming to exercise for 30 minutes two days a week, then progress to two days, and then to three, extending the length of each session as you see fit. The key factor is to ease this change into your life gently so that you can commit to it without the task seeming impossible. The addition of your Slendertone ab toning belt can help keep your core tight and strong between your workout sessions!

Meditation

Meditation has become increasingly popular over the past few years, and with good reason, showing both mental and physical benefits! These benefits include a reduction in anxiety and stress levels, improved self-awareness, self-esteem, and better concentration abilities. A simple five—minute meditation everyday could be enough to have a positive impact, so why not try a meditation app or online video today to see what all the fuss is about?
